Presidential History

The official White House website has this marvelous slide show of all 44 American presidents. Worth viewing today (we just did!). You get a great close-up on old portraits and photographs. Notice all the incredibly different faces and expressions, especially the eyes.

Nice slideshow! Did you watch the Inauguration? I ended up going to the mall early and watching it before work, and then I tuned into the recaps when I got home that night. Pretty momentous day! Can you imagine being a part of that crowd in Washington? I think I'd be a little intimidated...

Oh yes! S. and I made it an American history day in school (for the most part) and spent most of the morning/ early afternoon watching (on our fuzzy ABC). Quite a momentous day indeed. Our county paper ran a photo the next day of President Obama standing at the podium...there was a wide angle and telephoto picture of the vast sea of crowd that he faced, going all the way back to the Washington Memorial. Good thing he didnt have that good a vantage point from where he was standing, or I'm sure he would have been utterly overwhelmed. I can't imagine speaking to a crowd that size, or being part of it either. We've done DC on the 4th of July before, when the crowds are always huge, but not that huge. And even then I'm always overwhelmed!
